Inspiration and Quotes

“I write when I’m inspired, and I see to it that I’m inspired at nine o’clock every morning.”

Peter de Vries

Chair with Mountains, by Richard Salsbury

Slatted wooden bench on stone crag in foreground. The perspective from bench is across water to a snow topped mountain range and cummulous sky.

“A writer is not so much someone who has something to say as he is someone who has found a process that will bring about new things he would not have thought of if he had not started to say them.”

William Stafford

Shetland Paintings by Chris Rigby

This is a link to an artist I recently discovered in a Shetland Gallery.
He has a way with rocks.
His landscapes are huge and the detail of the rock which composes the cliffs is intimately textured, totally known. You are not standing looking at a painting, but standing in the presence of the rocks themselves.

“Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.”

Barbara Kingsolver
