“I write when I’m inspired, and I see to it that I’m inspired at nine o’clock every morning. ”

Peter de Vries

An essential quote for any aspiring  writer. And yet, inspiration isn’t just about bum on seat, coffee in hand, eyes on screen. So here’s a look at some of the things which inspire me. Pictures and artists will be updated on an irregular basis.

Chair with Mountains, by Richard Salsbury

Slatted wooden bench on stone crag in foreground. The perspective from bench is across water to a snow topped mountain range and cummulous sky.

Shetland Paintings by Chris Rigby

This is a link to an artist I recently discovered in a Shetland Gallery.
He has a way with rocks.
His landscapes are huge and the detail of the rock which composes the cliffs is intimately textured, totally known. You are not standing looking at a painting, but standing in the presence of the rocks themselves.

Yoga, meditation, walking, lingering near water, near stone, near trees.
